Macaroni & Cheese
- Ingredients
- 1 cup elbow or shell macaroni
- 1 1/2 sticks margarine
- 5-6 slices day-old bread
- 6 slices Velveeta cheese
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg
- 2 cups evaporated milk
- Directions
- Prepare macaroni according to package instructions, drain. In a saucepan, melt 1 stick margarine. Tear bread into small pieces and toss with melted margarine until well-coated. Butter a 2-quart casserole dish. Layer 1/2 of macaroni, 4 pats of margarine and 3 slices of Velveeta. Season with salt and pepper. Repeat layer and cover top with buttered bread pieces. In a small mixing bowl, beat egg and milk together. Pour over top of bread. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
